This is an excerpt of a light study made for Verso Antwerp, a clothing shop for luxury brands.
The people of Verso were playing with the idea of housing a showroom in their basement for Dolce & Gabbana Benelux.
Because it was a basement, I looked for ways to open it up in order to get some daylight in. The existing patio was meant to be dug out to basement level. Additionally mirrors and some water were proposed to complete the effect.

57 Mogador is a champagne and cocktail bar on the South in
Antwerp. The bar, designed a couple of years ago by Karim Osmani, needed some adaptations after a change in ownership. Mogador isn’t the largest bar in town and the new owners were searching for subtle ways to enhance the capacity without losing the feeling of luxury. There was asked not to make a style break with the existing infrastructure, so the entire project was actually an exercise in stylistic continuation.
Some walls were broken down and new ones put in place. The
DJ booth was changed from an uncomfortable L shaped element to a more central, altar-like volume. The dishwashing element was moved to the basement and replaced by a gangster seat.
All this resulted in a more serene architecture and an enhanced
capacity of 10 to 15 places.
