Pieter Maes is an independent product designer living and working in Paris, specialising in evocative designs and effective production. His portfolio spans from custom and serial furniture to objects like consumer electronics and household products. In 2015 he established his own practice, leading and creating projects with companies such as Tribù, Moroso, Demeyere and OHMS Audio Engineering.
Born in Antwerp, Maes studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven. After graduating in 2004, he interned at Ora-ïto in Paris. After which he returned to Antwerp to work for Vincent Van Duysen, designing furniture and objects. As a freelancer, several of his concepts went on to gain acclaim from international press. In 2014 the Illum collection for Tribú was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, a collaboration with Marc Merckx. In 2015/16 he collaborated with Raphael Navot on the design development of Hotel National des Arts et Métiers, Paris. In 2017 he moved his practice to Paris, engaging in new projects with a host of new collaborators.
